Founded in 2004 in Quito, Diez + Muller has quickly established its practice as one of the top architectural firms in Quito. Founders Gonzalo Diez, and Felipe Muller established the Ecuadorian firm to emphasize the climate, resources, and people of Ecuador rather than any specific design aesthetic.

Diez + Muller’s work explores the confluence of interior and exterior spaces – as much of their work is constructed in areas with very consistent temperature deviations, they are adept at creating dynamic borders rather than fixed boundaries. Quito-based Architect Felipe Escudero’s design philosophy is centered on adding value to the human experience. He began his career in London where he received his master’s degree from the Architectural Association. He went on to work at Heatherwick Studio in London, Mad Architects in Beijing, and then Space4architecture in New York.

In 2012, he founded EFE (Estudio Felipe Escudero). Ongoing projects include a 16-story corporate office tower in Quito, an ecological hotel in Papallacta, an industrial warehouse in Pifo, and a series of residential projects that mix with the vegetation in the Cumbayá valley.
